Moab Family Vacation

Since Scott got work off for Veterans Day we decided to add a few more days on top of it and take a little family vacation down to Moab. Unfortunate Jacob and I both got sick the day that we were supposed to leave and as a prego person I'm not really allowed to take anything to help it. So I just had to suck it up and we packed and left. I'm glad that I only felt really sick that first day. The rest of the time I felt good. Jacob was also sick though and had a pretty nasty cough. We drove down and stayed with Melanie and Ben Thursday night and Jacob was coughing and wheezing we were wondering if we should go at all. Thankfully Melanie gave us some essential oils to use and they really seemed to work. Jacob didn't hardly cough all night and the wheezing was completely gone by morning. So we decided to continue our journey.

Our plan was to camp the whole trip to help save on costs. But by the morning of our first night camping I was done. Jacob hadn't slept well and ended up sleeping with us, which means I didn't sleep at all. It also kind of sucked because it got dark by 5:30 and it was cold so we just didn't really have anything to do from 5:30 till we went to sleep. I also forgot to bring my coat so I was feeling extra cold.

Because of all the circumstances we decided to just get a hotel and I think that was the best choice. It was a night hotel with a little kitchenette so we could still do all our own cooking. And they gave us a discounted price. It was really nice to be able to stay out until dark then have somewhere warm and lit we could go. Jacob and I also slept much much better in the hotel.

We spend most of our time in Arches National Park. We did a lot of hiking. Sadly our second day at Arches was a very windy day which meant lot of sand in the eyes. It was also a colder wind so if you were in the shade it got very cold very quickly. A lot of the canyons would create wind tunnels. It was still nice just would have been even better if the wind hadn't of been blowing.

 Double Arches

 Elephant Rock
 Garden of Eden
 Firery Furnace
 Balance Rock

Jacob ran up and down rock hills and around cliffs and when does he bump a hole in his head? In the Hotel. We still don't even know what he did or how it happened. He just started crying and we turn around and he's sitting in the middle of the floor with blood dripping down his face.

We spent our last day in Canyonlands. Scott took us on an off-roading trail to get us there. He needed to test out the awesomeness of our outback. It exceeded his expectations! The road was pretty steep in places and we had to go slower because Jacob was sleeping and Scott was trying not to wake him up going over all the rocks and the car never slipped once. It just slowly made it's way up the sand, rocks and hills.

Canyonlands was pretty cool as well. It was different because in stead of all the rocks being higher than you like in Arches everything was lower than you in canyons so it looked pretty flat. It had some cool arches though and some other features.

All tuckered out after 3 days in Southern Utah

On our way back to Idaho we stopped and stayed the night with the Durtschi clan. It was really fun to spend some time with them. We also stopped by to say hi to Clarissa and to see her and Justin's new place in Salt Lake. It seems like a decent apartment and is a nice size. I'm not going to lie I'm a little sad they moved away... I was really excited to have them close by so that their baby and my baby could be play mates!

Our trip ended up being really awesome! It was really nice to just do something with our little family. Not that we don't love our trips with our extended family... But it was fun to be just the three of us as well.

24 Weeks

Baby girl received her first clothes from her Aunt Katrina and might I add that they are the cutest things ever!

I defiantly love girl clothes WAY more than boy clothes and just seeing the clothes got me all excited that I'm having a girl again! I showed them to Scott and he said, "Umm... How about we just decide right now that you take care of the girls and I'll just take care of Jacob." He's feeling just a little out of his element I think....
24 Weeks

Date: November 11, 2014

How far along? 24 Weeks

Total weight gain/loss: Up 14 lbs.

Maternity clothes?Yup! I think I want to buy another pair of maternity pants....

Sleep:Sleeping great! Waking up a couple times a night here and there but I usually can go back to sleep. The only time I can't go back to sleep if it's sometime after 5 am and Jacob is the one waking me up. For some reason when I hear him all the sudden I'm wide awake. It can get kind of annoying...

Movement: Starting to see her move around. It's fun to watch by belly when she kicks and turns. I'm excited for her to get a little bigger so the movements are more defined.

Feeling sick? I haven't thrown up in 2 weeks!!!!!!! YAY!!!!! This makes me so happy! I do still feel sick throughout the day here and there but we are defiantly on the right track!

Other pregnancy symptoms? I have been feeling really great the past couple weeks! Finally getting to that second trimester breeze I keep hearing about.

Have you started to show yet? I am for sure showing but I do not in anyway feel big yet. In fact... Sometimes I look at myself and think how small I look. Probably because I remember how big I am going to get.
24 Weeks
So the best thing that happened this past two weeks was finding the perfect dumpster changing table! I've been looking for one for awhile but they are really costly and I was having a hard time finding one with drawers. One day I was driving by the dumpster in the alley behind our house and there one was! It had a little water damage and wasn't the right color but with a little paint it turned into the perfect changing table. And it only cost me 15 bucks for the paint! So I'm super excited about that.

Before
 After

The other little craft I did was make a diaper shoot from Jacob's bedroom window to the garbage can out our back door. I just got really tired of his room smelling like dirty diapers all the time. I'm pretty proud of myself for coming up with the idea and it works great! Jacob also loves putting the diapers down the shoot. No more stinky room!

Halloween 2014

This year for Halloween I threw my first Halloween party! My mom and her sisters used to do this Halloween dinner party every once in awhile when I was growing up and I was able to be a server at one of them and I've always wanted to throw one myself but have never gotten around to it. This year was the year and I think it turned out great! We invited the Cromwell's, Phelps and Erickson's. I'm so sad that I didn't get any pictures of the guests. I had the camera out and everything but we just didn't do it. I did get some pictures of the decorations though.

Welcome to the Crossbone Cavern!

We had such a great time! I thought everything turned out prefect!

This year for Halloween I decided to make Jacob a mummy costume. Man..... Was it a lot of work! Don't worry... It only took like 3 tries before I figured it out. And that's only thanks to Becca Rogers for giving me the idea! I went to the thrift store and found and old cream colored sheet that I cut into strips and a one piece jumper to use as the base. The first attempt I just tried wrapping the strips around the jumper but that didn't work at all because it just fell off. The second time I tried wrapping it but putting some stitches here and there but that didn't really work either. Then Becca gave me the idea to us a hot glue gun to glue all the strips on and that worked perfectly! Then I needed to put in a zipper because I couldn't get it on him. So that was a disaster and a half! Only took me like 8 tried because the zipper kept getting stuck and broke. My first mistake was buying an invisible zipper which was just to fine for the costume. Then I bought a plastic invisible zipper foot for the sewing machine which was a joke because it was designed very poorly and wouldn't stay on the machine. I seriously got so so frustrated and almost threw the whole costume out the window. After going back to the store and getting a bigger zipper it worked much much better. The easiest part of the whole costume was the hat. I just crocheted a hat then glued strips of fabric around it. After all the time and frustration it paid off because I had the cutest looking mummy of all time! Jacob looked so cute in his costume! I loved it! We were able to do trunk or treating in Idaho Falls the weekend before Halloween. Then on Halloween we went trick or treating at Scott's office building then went to Driggs to do more trunk or treating. We came away with a pretty good candy stash.
