39 Weeks

May 25, 2013, 39 Weeks

One week left! We made it! Scott and I have been very busy these past couple weeks just finishing off those last minute "baby chores" as Scott calls them. One of those baby chores being putting together baby's room. Since we found out I was prego all the baby gear and clothes and everything have just been thrown up into the the spare bedroom in big piles. We decided with two weeks left we better get the room all picked up and organized so that we have somewhere to put him once he comes home.

A few other projects we have been working on is getting a a new dresser for the baby. We found the perfect one at a garage sale that needed refinished so Scott took up that project. We ended up putting the new one in our room when it was finished because it was a little bigger then the one we had. And it looked so nice!

My project has been re-upholstering a glider chair that we bought off of craigslist. I think I did a pretty good job if I do say so myself :)

Another one of my projects was making a baby blanket for our new little boy. I love how it turned out! It is so cute. As well as some nursing covers.

What do you do when you are tired of wearing the same old, same old maternity shirts that you've been wearing for the past 3 months and you only have 2 weeks left.... You invade your husbands closet and manipulate his shirts to work as maternity shirts!

One day I just didn't want to wear any of my maternity shirts. So Scott goes over to his closet and jokingly pulls out this shirt and says, "Here, wear this." Well... That got my mind working and with a little manipulation (I did not destroy the shirt in anyway that would make it so Scott couldn't wear it anymore) I was able to make a pretty cute outfit. Amazing what desperation will do for you. :)

Baby Bergy is still heads up. I decided to schedule the c-section at my 38 week appointment. I figured putting it off was going to do nothing but make it so I couldn't do it on the day I wanted. If he turned we could always cancel it. So we have decided to schedule it for June 1st, 2013. We picked this day because we didn't pick this day if that makes sense. I just had a really hard time "picking" his birthday. I just feel like it's not my choice to choose. So we have decided to schedule it for his due date because that's not a date that I choose. It was a date chosen because of when he was conceived. So it is scheduled. Bright and early 9 am. I told them I wanted it done the earliest they could because I didn't want to be waiting around all day in anticipation waiting.

After I scheduled the appointment I had a really hard time dealing with the idea of a c-section again. I have just been putting it on the back burner for so long because I wanted him to flip that I never really thought about it really happening. Scheduling the actual appointment made it real and I didn't handle it well. After this I decided I could either continue to put it on the back burning and be bitter and upset about the whole thing. Or I could actually face the fact that my baby was breech and try to make the c-section the most positive experience that I could. So I put away my hynobabies books and turned my focus to really coming to peace with having a c-section. I started doing research on "natural" options for c-sections to make me feel like I am apart of the birth. There are actually lots of options. So I made a birth plan and discussed it with my doctor at my 39 week appointment and he said everything looks good so I'm excited about that!

We are now 2 days from the scheduled date. I am still feeling great. Yesterday was my last day at work. It was a bitter/sweet. I really do love my job. I don't know if I'll be returning or not in three months. We are going to play it by ear and see what's happening. I decided I wanted a couple days to myself to just get things done and to relax before my life changes forever. It will be nice to have some downtime!

A few days ago Scott was looking at me while I was getting ready for work and said. "I'm going to miss you having a belly. It's so cute" After I started thinking about it and I feel like I will miss having a belly to. There is something really special about being able to carry a human body inside of you. I kind of think I'm going to feel a little lonely not having my baby in there kicking and moving around all day. I guess it's a good trade off though. I will still be able to have him close to me. He will just be outside my body instead of inside my body.

36 Weeks

May 4, 2013

I went in for my 36 week appointment very excited because I thought I would be checked to see if I was dilated! Well I wasn't checked for dilation but the babies position was checked. And we discovered by first external evaluation then by ultrasound that our little boy is very comfortably sitting with his butt in my pelvic region and his head toward my chest. AKA breech. Let's just say I didn't take the news well. I was given two options after this point. We could try External Cephalic Version (ECV) which means having a doctor rotate him manually from the outside, and although risks are small, there are still risks for the baby and only a 50/50% chance that the ECV would be successful. Or we could hold out as long as we can in hopes that he will turn on his own, 30% chance, and if he doesn't, have a C-section. I saw my whole vision of what I've always expected childbirth to be like crashing down all around me. From before I could remember I have always wanted to have a natural birth. I don't even remember a single time in my life where I considered having my babies any other way. Everything I had envisioned, especially after getting pregnant and visiting the hospital that we wanted to have our baby, envisioned Scott and I in that hospital room with Scott by my side helping me through contractions then pushing that little baby out and having him placed on my chest. I didn't know what to do....

On a positive note I did get to have another ultrasound and see my little guy, and the ultrasound technician did another 3D!
I don't know if she just felt sorry for me because my baby was breech so she wanted to make me feel better or if they really did have a new probe as she claimed.... But she told me they had a new 3D probe that they wanted to try out. Either way I got another 3D (I think I'm just lucky!) and it was pretty cool :) He is a chubby little thing! And for the first time my whole pregnancy he is measuring exactly as he should be. 36 cm. So sorry all you out there who where planning on him coming two weeks early! Looks like the midwife was right all along! ;) Other then Baby Bergy being breech everything is looking great! He is healthy and strong. And it turns out that body part we've been bouncing around with our fingers for the past couple months is his head..... So.... He'll either come out with a crooked neck or a super strong neck when he's born!

After my very emotional/distraught day when I found out he was breech, I was able to clear my head and consider my options. After looking up the risks of EVC and C-sections, praying, fasting, going to the temple and Scott giving me a blessing, we feel as this point that we do not want to go through with having a EVC. Although the risks are small, they are still there and if something were to go wrong because we did it, I would blame myself for the rest of my life. Instead we have decided to fully leave it up to the Lord and put our faith and trust in him that whatever happens is happening because it is his will. He does know what is best for both me and our baby. And if there is a reason Baby Bergy has stubbornly decided to place himself in the upright position because of health or safety reasons then we will do what we have to, to get him here safely.

37 Weeks
As for me.... I still stubbornly completely plan on him turning and having him naturally. I am continuing with my hypnobabies and preparing myself for a vaginal, natural birth. :) There is no pressure or rush to schedule a c-section and we don't plan on scheduling it anytime soon. I am also feeling pretty great these days! I think the best I've felt my whole pregnancy! The nurse was surprised when I told her that. As of today, 37 Weeks, Baby Bergy is still in heads up position and I'm still doing every method there is to help him turn. Including ice/heat packs, laying with my hips above my head, crawling, hypnosis, sitting on a birthing ball and we will be spending a lot of time in the pool doing head stands. He still has 3 weeks to turn that little body of his.

Spring brings Camping and Climbing

Spring has come and I am oh so excited! The warm weather has been so nice and with spring comes spring activities. Although at this time I am slightly limited with the activities I can do... I try not to let it stop me from doing the things I can do. Even if it's a little bit more trouble or uncomfortable. One thing I'm excited for is to get back to running! I see everyone out running these days and it just gives me that itch.
Rock climbing seems to be activity of choice this spring. Scott and I are really excited to have so many of our family members into rock climbing this year so that we have more people to go with.

Scott was able to take a weekend rock climbing trip down to City of Rocks with a few of his friends! He had a lot of fun and was able to get a lot of good climbing in.

In early spring we got together with Venny and Scott D, Clarissa and Justin and got Scott and Crystal to go climbing at Hysie. I think we have hooked Scott and Crystal, and I'm really excited that they are getting so into it. Once you get the gear it's a nice cheap activity you can do all summer. We have also been able to get Derek, Shelyn and Ondrea into it!

I even got on the rock for a climb! See... You can still go climbing at 7 in a half month pregnant. :) It was a very easy climb and I stopped before it got to any of the technical stuff.

Everyone also convinced me to go camping :) I told them I would go anywhere they wanted as long as they brought my bean bag... So what did they do... They stuffed that bean bag in the back of Scott's subaru (it took up 3/4 of the whole back seat with the front seats scooted forward) and we went camping with Scott and Crystal! It was a lot of fun! We went rock climbing again and I was surprised by how different I felt from going just 3 weeks before... It was night and day. There was no way I was going to get on any rock. So alas... The rock climbing will have to wait until this baby is out of me!

  Geocaching

It's not rock climbing if you don't go get frozen yogurt afterwards. :)

I am looking forward to a really fun summer filled with rock climbing and camping :)

Clarissa and Justin's Wedding

I know these are a little bit out of order.... my focus has been staying up to date with baby updates as much as possible. Everything else has kind of been neglected.... But in April we were able to celebrate Clarissa and Justin's wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony and I have to say that all the decorations at the reception turned out perfect! Just what she wanted. I thought everything looked so great! And she was beautiful!
I had a really hard time finding a maternity dress so I decided to make my own. Maybe just a little ambitious 2 weeks away from the wedding! I had never made clothing of any kind by myself... But I found a pattern I liked and just figured it out. For how many times I had to take out stitches and redo things I probably ended up making the dress 8 times! But it finally all came together and I am proud of my work. As long as nobody looks to closely. :) I do think it made me look a little bigger then I was.... But oh well. :)

I am so proud of Clarissa for making the decision to get sealed in the temple. It will only bring joy and happiness to her life. It was also fun to be able to help with the wedding as much as a 7 month prego women could help. I'm glad I was able to be apart of it all!

Congrats to Clarissa and Justin!

3/4 Down 1/4 to go!

 March 23, 2013

Yup! I made it to 30 weeks! Only 10 weeks to go! Baby Bergy is growing nicely and my belly is measuring in at 31 cm. What's new with pregnancy these days you ask? Sleeping!!! And when I say sleeping, I actually mean actual sleep! What is the cause of this new found awesome sleepingness? A present Scott made me 3 Christmas's ago! Who would have thought something Scott made me so long ago would be such a lifesaver now.... And the answer is!... (drum roll please)... A giant bean bag!!!
Yes, this has been my bed for the past 2 or 3 weeks now and I can say that I am in love. I was sleeping so horridly, so I decided to try sleeping on the bean bag one night to see if I would sleep better and one night was all it took to make me hooked. We moved it up to the bedroom and I've been using it ever since! So thank you, thank you to Scott for making me my pregnancy life saver!
Getting sleep has also changed every aspect of pregnancy. I have been enjoying it much more these days. Sure I still have my symptoms, but I have been much happier! I am also loving the warm weather we have been having! It has made it much nicer to go out and do my walks in.
What is better then being pregnant alone? Having your best friend pregnant with you! Melanie told me she was pregnant when she was 7 weeks. Little did I know that I was actually 2 weeks pregnant at the time! No it was not planned... Neither one of us even knew the other was trying. But it has been so fun to be 5 weeks apart and get to share in all our pregnancies joys and pains. I always know what to expect because she is doing everything just ahead of me. So it's been so much fun! And we are both having boys! So I'm excited to have boys the same age as well :) Since we are only 5 weeks apart, and other conflicts we weren't able to make it to each others baby showers. So we threw ourselves our own personal one. :)

Since we are both prego at the same time we decided we HAD to take prego pics together! So here are some of our pics that we took together. Enjoy! :)

Just a little hard hugging a bear with a big belly....

34 Weeks
And since I'm so far behind... And was supposed to post this 5 weeks ago... I'm now 35 weeks pregnant! How the time has flown.... Even though I feel like these last 5 weeks are going to go soooo slow! But everything is still looking great! I think for the most part the nausea has decided to leave me! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! I'm only sick every once in a while and not everyday! I'm still sleeping great! I have occasional heartburn... As long as I don't eat to much at one sitting. My ankles have turned into kankles and my feet a puffy ball. Excited for THAT to be over, and enjoying many many braxton hicks. I swear with the amount of braxton hicks that I have this baby is prob just going to fall out of me! (That's my hope anyways) I've also started using the bathroom a lot more. But enjoying pregnancy for the most part. Still very excited to NOT be prego anymore. But I can do it! At my last 34 Week appointment my belly was measuring at 35 cm and everything was still looking great!

28 Weeks!

Well I'm almost to the 3 quarter mark and now into my last and final trimester! YAY! Time to start really prepping for that labor and delivery.... This week at my appointment I got to take the good old sugar test. I think that I had heard so many bad things about how bad it was and how bad the sugar drink tasted that I expected it to be a lot worse then it actually was. I didn't think the drink was all that bad. Nice and orange flavored. And I was very excited to find out I didn't have gestational diabetes! (Because then I'd have to give up my sour patch kids, and I really didn't want to do that) I did however discover that I am slightly anemic. Your red cell blood count is supposed to be between 11-16 and mine was a 9.9. I'll take it, I am now going to start taking iron supplements. We also got to hear Baby Bergy's heartbeat! The first time Scott has got to hear it, and my belly is measuring in at 29 cm. So everything is looking great and I have now started having Prenatal Visits every two weeks. Scott and I took a tour of the hospital we'll be delivering at and I think that was really fun! I think it made us both feel a little better about everything. It even made me feel excited to have a baby!

How have I enjoyed pregnancy you ask? Well about 3 weeks ago me and pregnancy started not being very good friends. I was tired of it! I think a big part of it had to do with my bad attitude and being selfish. I felt like everyone around me was doing things that I couldn't and I was starting to feel really left out. I felt like I couldn't do any of the activities that I enjoy doing. Everyone was planning trips, going rock climbing, starting training programs for races they'll be doing the summer. I was walking, and I thought to myself, is this my new life? While everyone is going out having fun I'll be stuck at home? Not only that but I was tired of pregnancy symptoms. Never feeling normal. Always something, heartburn, uncomfortable, nausea or all three. Yes, I was in a dark place and cried A LOT! I didn't feel life was fair and I didn't want to be the only one sacrificing. Luckily... After a couple weeks of this, I was able to change my attitude around with the help of some good friends and general conference talks. I started exercising more and eating healthier. I can now say that for the past weeks or so I have been enjoyed life much much more! Ya maybe I can't do all the things I'd like to right now. But it will end and then I will be able to go back to doing the things I love. And not only that I'll have a cute little bundle of joy to do them with! My life doesn't have to change completely because we are adding another addition to the family. We have a ton of fun things planned for this summer that include all three of us and I'm really excited for it! I have also starting going to Prenatal Yoga and Water Aerobics classes! I think they are a blast! It's so fun to be with the other ladies and get to complain about everything and have people who understand! Not only that.. But I'd have to say that I'm looking pretty dang cute with my baby belly! ;)

Daddy Update:

Scott is also preparing for Baby Bergy to come. :) He has taken it upon himself to make sure we have ALL the OUTDOOR gear we'll need to keep up with our outdoor lifestyle! Including a new 6 man tent!

Now this thing is huge! we will easily be able to fit our air mattress, pack-n-play and all of babies supplies in it. It will definitely be nice. Also included in future outdoor gear Scott wants to get, a backpack baby carrier and a small rock climbing harness. :) Yes... Our children will know how to have adventures! Scott is so cute with Baby Bergy. Sometimes he will bend over my stomach so his mouth is really close and talk to him. I think it is the cutest thing and I love it! I don't think it has really set in yet for him that we will be having a baby. But I guess when everything feels so surreal that's pretty normal.
