6 Months

 6 Months

I can not believe it has already been half a year! It's gone by so fast! But still every new stage continues to get better and better! (For the most part) :) Jacob is now weighing in at 15 lbs 12 oz... Not a lot different from last month but he has continued to stay in the 25th percentile range. He was 27 inches tall and for the first time since he was like 2 months old I feel like they actually took, an accurate measurement, putting him in the 50th percentile for height. His head circumference was 17 inches (30th percentile). He is still looking good and healthy and the Doc. says he looks great! I feel like this set of vaccinations have been the worst so far. He still took them like a champ. Crying when he got them, but then just whimpered after I picked him up until we left the room. Then he was fine. But he was fussy for a good 3-4 days after, which I assume is because he wasn't feeling well still. But since then he has been doing good.

This past month has been so good with Jacob! I felt like nursing has been going well, I have even started to enjoy it more. And Jacob was just so happy! He has learned how his body works so well and uses it to wiggle and worm everywhere! He has been consistently getting up on his hands and knees now for almost 3 weeks now and I feel like he will be crawling within the next couple weeks. He has going backwards down pat! He just can't figure out how to move forward. But when he figures it
out I know that's all it will take for him to be crawling. Since he doesn't really have any other form of transportation, like rolling around to get somewhere (even though he can roll, he just don't know he can use it to move) I think that's
another reason why he'll start crawling sooner then later. Jacob also learned how to put his pacifier back into his mouth by himself which is awesome! He has also started a new work out to go with his crunches and that is planking. He does it ALL THE TIME! Have to work out those ABS!

Something else Jacob has started doing this month is fake coughing. He does it all the time and I think it's so funny. I think it's just a noise he realized he could make and now he just does it all the time. Another thing he does is tilt his head to the side. Almost like he is shy or bashful. Even though he is neither of those things. I think the real reason he does it is just to look cute. He knows he is a cutie. Jacob loves to be sang to as well as having his back rubbed or scratched. Especially when done all at the same time! This is a new method I've started using to calm him down at night or when we are just having some cuddle time on the couch. He loves it and I love doing it to! Jacob still doesn't laugh a lot yet. But it is increasing a little bit. Just a couple days ago Uncle Skyler got him to laugh more then he ever has before! I love that little laugh so much!

Recently Jacob has decided he is a Mama's boy... This means, "Mama, you may never ever leave my sight. Not even to clean, or do laundry, or dishes, or work. Not even when there is someone else around that can hold and entertain me. And Mama, although sometimes I am ok with sitting in a room to play with my toys, (As long as I can still see you that is) don't you ever even think about walking past me without picking me up.... Love, Jacob" Ok... It's not THAT bad, but he does like to see me and will start to cry sometimes when I go out of his sight. Or if Scott is holding him and I leave the room. Not all the time, but sometimes. Usually once I've been gone for a minute or two he forgets about me and he's fine again. A part of me is like, "Ahhhh, he always wants me! :)" and then another part of me is like, "CRAP, he always wants me!"

This past month we got Jacob started on fruits and veggies and he LOVES them! We have not fed him one thing yet that he doesn't devour up! And it's so cute because in-between each bight of food Jacob says, "Mmmm..." Not sure where he picked it up from, but I'll just take it as he really loves the food! So far the foods we have introduced are apples, bananas, green beans, pears, avocados, carrots, peas, sweet potatoes and squash. Yes, he loves the all!
We got him a puree food bottle (That I love!) that we use when we are out and about doing stuff or visiting friends and family and as soon as he sees it he gets so excited because he knows food is on it's way! But he gets mad if we don't give it to him right away. When we are home he does the same thing when he sees one of his baby spoons. So his feeding schedule at the moment is nursing every 3 hours, Fruits for breakfast, veggies for lunch, then veggies with cereal mixed in for dinner.

Jacob's sleeping pattern is all over the place. There isn't really a consistent number of times he gets up a night, or a certain time he gets up. Although it seems the nights he only gets up once are increasing slightly. Usually he gets up anywhere from 2-4 times a night still.

Oh Christmas Tree

This year we had a first for both Scott and Jacob. We went out into the forest and found a Christmas tree! I've always done this growing up and loved it. So I hope we can keep up the tradition!

Thanksgiving 2013

This year for Thanksgiving we had a big Durtschi get together at West Piney Creek Cabin. This place was awesome! The perfect place for getting a bunch of people together. I think we had a total of 52 people there at one time and I think we maybe filled half of it. There are bunk beds for everyone, a big open space for eating and playing, a kitchen with a double range and huge fridge, places for camping in the summer, a huge slide and prob a lot more I'm forgetting. It was perfect though. And so much fun!

Jacob was a HUGE hit, to say the least. It's been a little while since we've had a baby at an activity like this and let's just say, I think the ONLY time I even saw him was when I was feeding him. It was actually a nice little break! :) Of course little sleep was granted to me on this trip. Between staying up late with everyone playing games all hours of the night and getting up with Jacob at night for feedings. Sleep was a low priority.

Of course the Durtschi family can't get together without having some kind of competition. Our usual Thanksgiving competition of choice is a very long game of 50 man speed. But since we had no access to a basketball court this year, out competition involved the huge slide, icey rugs and lots of stair running. So, the race went like so... You start at the top of the slide. Obviously, since this is a race, you want to get down the slide as fast as you can, which is where the rugs rubbed in snow to make them icey came into play. After you reached the bottom you had to grab your rug, then take it with you as you made your journey back up the stairs. The timer stopped when you crossed the line at the top of the stairs. Yup... This was our competition. And it was a lot of fun! I was a little chicken to go very fast down the slide so I didn't do very well. But over all my cousin Coltin got first place and cousin Caleb got second. They both did the run 2-4 times. My sister Shelyn got first out of the girls. I don't remember any of the times.

  Getting ready to go...

And we're off!

 The winner!

My turn!

Wet butts :)

The rest of our time was spent eating, playing games, hanging out and just having fun!

I think we will be spending more Thanksgivings here in the future. Everybody had a blast!

(P.S. No... I am not a photographer, 99% of these photos where taken by my cousin Christopher Durtschi. And yes... He's good! So all complements go to him!
